Play by Play of my Day to Day

Usually things tend to slow down over the holidays and new year, but just like the rest of 2018- this year was unpredictably busy! I had high hopes of coming home from a fabulous vacation and having December and January to business plan, take some courses and quite frankly kick back a bit after a super busy season. Didn’t happen! Here is a little bit of just what the heck it is I get up to, there is no typical day in Interior Design- some days I am zipping around to sites, scouring local sources to pull samples, visiting clients for initial consultations, meeting with trades, scheming up design elements to set my clients home apart, budget reviewing, styling decor and usually a bit of actual design time.

There is A LOT of behind the scene’s work to grow my business and ensure that I don’t miss the mark in providing service that people need. Read the captions for a play by play on my day to day!

In November my husband Roman and I went to Greece. This was an unbelievable trip that really reawakened my desire to travel to all the great spots of historical importance.

After a client consult for a laundry room reno, I short list their needs,wants and design goals. Then I take my specs to the awesome Carmen and Living Kitchen and she does up 2D and 3 D plans and a quote for us. In the mean time our handy guy is working on gutting the current space, ensuring we are ready for final measure and me and the home owner finalize selections such as countertops

Being self employed means I am MY brand. So I need to have materials the represent the work I do and what I bring to the table. I am constantly working on this kind of stuff to be prepared, to show off my style and to get The Edit name out to the people!

I design look books based on products selected for clients to help them imagine how their new home will come together. Also I have coffee with the architech who designed this/their home. Again always working on growing my business. PS brick is a classic trend- my fave

Again with the look books, I also met with these awesome clients to go over some design details as their new home build begins. We discuss the feel of the home and things they should start thinking about such as kitchen must haves, a first look at a draft budget and oh ya they brought their 1 week old little baby boy:)

After a staging consult I provide my clients who want to do some updates before relisting with my suggestions to appeal the most likely buyers for their high end home. We dont’ want to kill the budget but we need to do smart investments that will get them big ROI! Return on Investment

After an amazing consult with tea AND cookies I sent my client an outline of what to look for when shopping for updates for her home. Not everyone likes to online shop so if they have an idea of what to look for it helps them and I am always available by text or email if they are in store shoppin’

Another consult for a stylish client who wants to fall in love with her home again. Now that her kids are older she is starting to plan ( my faveorite kind of people) to what her eventual renovations and furniture will look like. After a detailed report I include some look books.

I plan an upcoming event involving WINE CUPCAKES and a GIVEAWAY at one of my fave stores in town Far and Wide. See always marketing!

Budget Friendly shopping for a client who needs a welcoming entry way

Looking for inspo- and finding out about this wood treatement Shu Shuig Wood. Probably spelled that wrong but learning about techniques and not spelling is where my heart lies.

Decided to sign up for an interior design business course too….. doing a lot of reading and thinking about how I can best serve my clients and community. I can’t just roll out of bed and have people throw buckets of money at me, can I??

oooh two of my favorite projects are coming along and I meet with both clients to touch base on furniture needs, how progress is going and just to make sure they are happy so far. These are my favorite days and I LOOOOVE what I do.

3 days of consults, site checks and some FREE giveaway appointments at my Revelstoke office. Managed to squeeze in a few cocktails too- much needed!

Shopping for staging furniture for two show homes in Kamloops….. shop shop shop

Again with the business stuff, preparing packets for builders, architects and realtors. I try to be ahead of the curve and meet and listen to fellow industry peeps so I can tailor my service to THEM. This is how a small business will survive, relationships! I try very hard to think of my customers and what they need so that I can bring that to the table before my need to tell people their style sucks and need a whole house revamp LOL
