Custom Build Wrap Up
This past year I was fortunate to work with The Harris’s! An awesome family of 4.
Their home was designed by Melanie at Monashee Designs, and they contacted me as their design was wrapping up and we started designing the exterior and interior finishes of their home. This was such an amazing project! First off Cody and Shawna both make decisions pretty easily and they had some great ideas in mind already, I just guided them, helped sort out solutions where needed and the collaboration made for a home they will enjoy for years. Tyler, owner of Arcadian Construction was a dream to work with. From the initial budget he provided – for the home and shop- the communication was clear, it was easy for us to keep track of where things would come over and under and his crew did excellent work! Shout out to Corey for his attention to detail on the custom closet and to NFB for the tile work!
Along the way I got to spend time with their adorable kids, get to know them better and I am happy to report we are friends for life, whether they want me around or not! Take a peak at some of the highlights here in photos taken by Melissa Sessa Photography. All floors from Revelstoke Flooring, and paints all Benjamin Moore.
It was a rainy day so we didn’t shoot any exteriors but more to come!
I found this stunning grey toned white washed table at WestElm and the chairs are so luscious! Walnut wood and wipeable leather that will last with busy kiddos and large family dinners over the years, they are from Rove Concepts
We mixed black and chrome lighting with white globes on our family of lighting in the kitchen and dining areas- just enough detail for some bling but design that doesn’t detract from the beautiful view out the windows
Shawna and Cody selected this to die for double sided fireplace! We knew we didn’t envision tile on either side of it soooo we hit up Mike McStay Masonry to stucco it! We then painted it out slightly darker than the walls and it is a classic feature that won’t trend out easily
These floors are hickory and are so stunning! They allow for radiant heat and the warm tone pairs well with our cool grey walls- Metropolitan Gray from Benjamin Moore.
Cody made these incredible stair rails- he did the outside ones too! We had the crew stain the beam to match the exterior beams and added a cool but sophisticated light fixture from Matteo. The door is modern, but classic and has the perfect black hardware from Emtech
A generous sized side by side washer dryer set up is ideal for a busy family! Same with a decent sized utility sink- here we have cabinets that are easily accessible for storing detergent etc as well as deep pull out drawers rather than more narrow ones- much better for storage. Kalwood Cabinets in Vernon was so great to work with- the cabinet color is Ivory Tower from Benjamin Moore, appliances GE in Slate. We took the backsplash UP the wall for style factor.
The main AND basement bathrooms both have these amazing built in storage cabinets nestled behind the doors- great use of space and they are beautiful too! Matte black hardware looks perfect with them!
FUN but classic flooring was selected at Revelstoke flooring, Beautiful Quartz counters and a tile backsplash finish off this bathroom. In bathroom that will be used a lot, use the best materials you can budget for as they will stand the test of time!
Oh this dreamy backsplash! I scooped this sample of tile up the day it hit the floor and we installed it vertical and with BLACK grout- Shawna was a little nervous but powered thru and the result is so good!
The modern shaker cabinetry was painted green on the lowers and white up top and the corner was used to install a pair of corner floating shelves- perfect for plants and to allow for window placement and day light
